I have performed many Board evaluations throughout my career both as an advisor and as the Chair of a Governance Committee.

In the United Kingdom board evaluations are required annually and once every three years the evaluator exercise must be led by and external resource.

I do not believe in formal written “peer” evaluations – it is but a small step from being helpful to being hurtful but through one-on-one confidential interviews some important insights can be gained and acted upon.
